A serious multi-vehicle crash was reported shortly after 3:30 PM on the afternoon of September 5th, 2021. Within means the officers from the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office and emergency personnel from the West Brazos EMS and Wild Peach Fire Department arrived after the scene of the crash.

Upon a preliminary investigation, officials determined that the crash initially occurred when a Nissan and a GMC Sierra collided at the intersection of Highway 36 and CR 354. The force of the accident sent both vehicles into the northbound lane of Highway 36, where they collectively struck two more vehicles.

The accident required state and local highway authorities to close the intersection for several hours. A 38-year-old woman who was injured in the crash was transported via medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX. She was listed in stable condition.

What to Know About Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Texas

The immediate aftermath of a car crash can be chaotic—even more so when several vehicles are involved in the collision. Here are three things to know about multi-vehicle collision claims in Texas:

  • Texas is a Fault-Based Car Accident State: In Texas, liability for a car accident is based on fault. All parties—drivers, trucking companies, manufacturers, etc—can be held responsible for an accident that they cause through careless or reckless conduct.
  • Liability Falls Under Comparative Fault: As Texas uses a comparative fault legal standard for car accidents, multiple defendants can be held responsible for the same crash. Motor vehicle collisions in Brazoria County should be comprehensively investigated to determine exactly what happened and why. All at-fault parties should be held accountable for the damage that they caused through negligence.
  • You Need Insurance Information From Every Party: If you are involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Brazoria County, it is imperative that you get personal, vehicle, and insurance information from every party involved in the accident.
